Draw it Like Tigersan

Devverus doesn't do pool parties, but if he did, they'd probably be the best in the-waitaminute... That's not how I start these... (ahem)


Bored with your own artistic style? Want to try something new and exciting? Why not try to emulate the drawing style of one of your favourite artists on DA?

Answer: Do it! You may begin to realise how much work other artists are putting into their work and stop half arsing your own stuff... maybe.

So usually I'm trying to copy the style in which another artist 'draws'... Obviously without many years of practise with 3D software I couldn't even begin to try and emulate 's artistry, so for the above I've attempted to do a reasonably accurate picture of his Barbie character, and honestly I think it's come out pretty well. (In terms of body/muscle shape size, if not lighting, tone... all that jazz that matters. Also, no prizes for guessing which of his submissions was the main reference )

My initial problem was deciding which character to do (Switch, Crush & Shelby were very tempting candidates). Barbie is sadly nowhere near as ripped as she's shown in the beautifully rendered originals, but without spending another 5 hours on this I don't think I could even come close to that level of detail. (Dev is slow). I'm not sure I could honestly incorporate even the above level of detail into my regular works, but as a study this was really nice to do.
